A Team That Cares
Gage Zellmer
Gage Zellmer is the youngest son of Alan and Brenda Zellmer. He graduated from Atlantic High School in 2011. Gage married Maddi in 2015, they had their son Wesley in 2016 and their daughter Harper in 2018. Gage was raised in the family cow calf, feedlot, and row crop operation and learned to contribute at a young age. When he was 14 Gage took over calving the family's 300 head cow herd while attending high school. Gage is a certified ultrasound tech as well as maintains certification in beef quality assurance and manure application. Gage manages day to day bunk calls and animal health as well as commodity contracting for the feedlot. On the cow calf side he helps with managing and calving the cows and sometimes spends the night in the pasture with the cows when the weather is adverse. Gage is also the representative for feedlot cattle sales as well as bull and heifer sales. Give him a call, he loves to talk cattle.
Alan and Brenda Zellmer
Alan and Brenda got married in 1979 and were blessed with six children, four daughters (Michelle, Cristin, Danelle, Felicia) and two sons (Ethan and Gage). They started their agricultural career in row crops and the swine industry as well as a small cow calf herd. Alan worked in the cattle industry through high school for his uncle and cousin so his love of cattle began then. After high school Brenda graduated with a nursing degree but decided at that time they wanted to raise their own children so she became a stay at home mom and did the book keeping. The operation grew toward cattle and more row crops and has grown to what it is today. Alan is the (HOT DOG) at A to Z Feeders and can be found in the field planting, tilling or combining for Zellmer Farms as well as pulling tractors as much as time allows. Brenda to this day still maintains the bookkeeping and day to day office operations, and can be found watching at least one of their nineteen grandchildren.
Ethan Zellmer
Ethan graduated from Atlantic High School in 2005 and went on to graduate from DMACC in 2008 with a degree in Ag Business and Animal Science. After graduation he took an internship with a ranch in Big Sandy, MT. Ethan Married Hillary in 2015 and adopted their oldest son Zach in 2016. They had their second son Oscar in 2017, their third son Oliver in 2018, and their daughter Zola in 2019. Ethan also grew up in the family feedlot, row crop, and cow calf operation and has been contributing from a very young age. Ethan's wife Hillary is a kindergarten teacher for Atlantic community schools. Ethan's main job is managing the row crop operation but also works with the feed lot and cow calf operation.
Jeff Kool
Jeff grew up in Adel, IA, showing horses and team roping. After graduation from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School, he went on to graduate from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Criminology. Going to different farm auctions with his dad while growing up peaked his interest in the auctioneering profession and eventually led Jeff to become an auctioneer after attending World Wide College of Auctioneering. He started working at a local sale barn shortly thereafter. Jeff married his wife, Alisa who is a elementary school teacher, in 2016. They had their daughter, Paisley, the following year. Jeff joined A to Z Feeders in 2017, and does a variety of things here including calving, feeding, vaccination protocols for the feedlot and cows, processing cattle, ultrasounding cows, tag records, and is in charge of the billing for the feedlot.
